Staffing

The history of our staff has been that of full time and part time employees. Many staff are students who are seeking a degree in Early Childhood Education. Other staff are those individuals who have chosen to make teaching and nurturing children their career.

Each staff member is employed based upon their qualifications as a person who can provide loving care and encourage each individual child to reach their potential in all areas of development. Before employment, each staff member must have a background check, supply three references to the director and have a medical statement from a licensed physician certifying that each individual is free of apparent communicable disease, including tuberculosis, is physically fit for employment in a facility caring for young children, and has been immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus and diphtheria.

All staff members are required to take the following in-service trainings: child and adult CPR, first aid, child abuse recognition and prevention, and recognition and management of communicable diseases. In addition each staff member is to annually complete 15 hours of in-service training in child development or early childhood education.

Class Sizes
Every effort is made to minimize class sizes in order to provide the best care possible for each child. The center observes a staff/child ratio lower than state ratio. The talbe below shos the Center's goal versus the state ratio.

Child and Adult Care Food Program
Our center is a praticipant in the state funded Child and Adult Care Food Program, therefore, our menus are required to represent the CACFP credible meals. This is to ensure that our students are being provided foods that are whole and with  nutritional value. We will accommodate special diets for children with medical needs and religious preference whenever possible. Upon enrollment, parent/guardians will complete the special health concerns part of the registration form to inform the center of this need. In compliance with the ODJFS rules, we are a cooking center, therefore, parents are not able to pack nor should bring in food for their child unless preapproved by the Director.
